Why we created Life on Lake Como
Moving to Italy is a dream for so many, but behind the dream comes the paperwork, the unknowns, and the reality of building a new life in a different culture. When we first considered relocating to Lake Como, we couldn’t find much beyond glossy travel content. What we craved were real-life experiences, practical tips, and honest insights into what life in Italy is really like.
That’s why we created Life on Lake Como: a place where inspiration meets practical guidance, where you can see the beauty of the lake and understand the everyday realities of living here.
Who we are
We’re Debs and David, entrepreneurs who believe in making the most of this ‘one, precious life’. After experiencing burnout in our first business, we’re following our hearts call to Italy to live wholeheartedly, close to nature, and in alignment with what matters most.
Choosing to relocate to Lake Como wasn’t just about moving countries, it was about creating a life rooted in simplicity, beauty, and community.
We’re not content creators or influencers, just a married couple with big hearts desiring to share the raw reality of creating a new life abroad.

Our journey to Italy
Like many, we started with the dream: What could our life be if we lived in Italy? What if daily life included markets by the piazza, morning walks by the lake, and a slower rhythm that allowed space to breathe?
Turning that dream into reality meant navigating:
✅ The Italian visa and residency process.
✅ Understanding the healthcare and tax systems.
✅ Finding a home that felt right.
✅ Learning Italian (work in progress!).
And, perhaps most importantly, learning how to belong in a new culture.
We’ve made mistakes, learned lessons, and discovered countless joys along the way. And through it all, we realised our story could help others on their own journey to Italy.
